Visible light, particularly in the blue and green wavelengths, accelerates the degradation of organic compounds. In cannabis that means terpenes oxidize and cannabinoids break down. UV glass blocks visible light across the 380 to 780nm range while selectively allowing UV-A light through, and research on violet glass storage has shown that this specific filtering profile helps preserve the contents rather than simply hiding them from light.
