eNails Explained: What an eNail Is and How to Use One
🔥What an eNail Actually Is
An eNail is three things: a controller, a coil, and a glass piece. The controller holds a temperature, the coil wraps around the glass and heats it, and you dab off the glass. That is the whole idea. It replaces the torch.
Everything below is the practical version — what each part does, which sizes go with which, what to set it to, and the one thing about these controllers that nobody tells you.
🔌The Three Parts
The box. You give it a temperature and it holds there.
The heating element that wraps around your glass.
What you actually dab off. Usually a terp slurper.
That is the entire system. No torch, no guessing whether the nail is hot enough, no waiting for it to cool into the right window.
With a torch you heat quartz or titanium red hot and then time the cool down by feel. Every dab lands at a slightly different temperature, which means every dab tastes slightly different, and the ones that land too hot scorch what you put in.
An eNail removes the guess. You pick a number, the controller holds it, and the next one tastes like the last one. There is also no open flame sitting on your table.
🔮The Glass: Slurpers and Bangers
The most common glass piece these days is the terp slurper. It used to be the banger. Both still work and both still sell, but the slurper is what most people are running now.
Ours come in 25mm or 30mm bases, with 45 or 90 degree stems, in 10mm and 14mm. Each one includes the pillar and marble.
The tower opening is 11mm ID and 16mm OD, and the tower stands 80mm tall.
A newer option in 45 and 90 degree. The support collar means it does not tilt or shift around inside your coil the way a plain tube does.
The tower is close to twice the diameter of a normal one, so there is a lot more glass and it holds heat much longer. It ships with a specialized carb cap instead of a marble, a 10mm stem, and a 14mm adapter in every kit.
On the banger side you will also find 20mm and 30mm quartz bangers, bottomless bangers, silicon carbide inserts, and vortex, disc and bubble carb caps.
🌀The Coil
The coil wraps around your glass and heats it. You will also see these called axial coils, because the wire wraps around the glass in a helix instead of sitting flat underneath it. If you have been searching for an axial eNail coil, this is the same thing.
30mm and 25mm in a 10 wrap, plus a 25mm 6 wrap that is the standard for Ruby Twist heaters. The flexible neck lets you position the head where you want it.
30mm, 25mm and 20mm on a fixed lead. Simpler, and the 25mm is the Ruby Twist standard here too.
30mm is the industry standard. 25mm suits smaller setups and pairs naturally with a 25mm terp slurper if you want the whole thing compact. Match the coil to the base of your glass and you are done.
These are made from the same materials you find in ovens, and with reasonable care they last up to ten years. Every coil we sell works with every controller we have sold since 2016.
One warning: our gooseneck flex coils are not compatible with third party controllers. If you are bringing a controller from somewhere else, use a corded coil.

⚙️The Two Controllers
Ships standard with the Ruby Twist. It has an auto shut off timer, so it turns itself off. Handy if you tend to walk away and forget.
No auto shut off — it holds your temperature until you switch it off yourself. It is also the one you can calibrate.
Single channel runs one coil. Dual channel runs two independently, which is what you want if you keep a slurper and a ball vape set up at the same time, or a concentrate station and a dry herb station side by side. Both have an LCD readout.
Holds to within about 1°F once it settles.
110 to 240V, so it works internationally. Desktop only — it plugs into the wall.
200°F to 1000°F, far wider than you will ever need.

⏳Warming Up and What to Set It To
From cold, figure on roughly four minutes to come up to temperature.
Here is what throws people the first time. You set 450, you watch it sail past 550, and you think something is wrong. Nothing is wrong. Let it settle and it comes back to where you put it.
It depends entirely on what you are running.
Concentrates: roughly 420 to 520. Start low and work up.
Dry herb: much lower — as low as 380 or 390.
There is no single correct number. Move in small steps and pay attention to which one you actually enjoyed.
🔥Your Controller Is Probably Reading Hot
This is the part nobody tells you, and it explains a lot of confusion online.
Matt’s own full size controller displayed 615°F when the glass was really closer to 550°F — roughly 65 degrees hot. That is why matching your number against someone else’s number, on a different brand of controller, will drive you crazy. You are not comparing the same thing. Two people can both say “I run 550” and be at genuinely different temperatures.

Treat 65 degrees as Matt’s number on Matt’s unit, not as a spec. Yours may land somewhere else entirely.
▶️Putting Your First One Together
- Pick your controller — single channel for one coil, dual if you want two setups running independently.
- Match the coil to the base of your glass, 30mm or 25mm.
- Pick your glass — a terp slurper if you are starting fresh, a banger if that is what you know.
If you already own a controller, you only need the coil and the glass.
Cleaning is most of what keeps a setup working well instead of going crusty and dull.
